A faith-based organisation, Standard Bearers (SB) has concluded plans to hold its much anticipated Career Mentorship Programme (CMP) Scholarship Examination on Saturday, November 7, 2020.
Unlike the previous editions which were held at different centres, organisers said this year’s CMP will be held virtually, due to the novel Coronavirus pandemic that has wreaked havoc across the world.
In an interview with Muslim News, the group’s National Coordinator, Dr Abdulhafeez Bello said the virtual option will make it easy for all registered candidates to do the examination from the comfort of their homes.
No fewer than a thousand final year (SSS 3) secondary school students have registered to participate in the 2020 CMP examination.
Dr Bello, a consultant pediatrician at the Federal Medical Center, Bida, Niger State, said; “Registration which has been opened for over a month closed on Friday, October 30 while Online mock examinations was held on Saturday, October 31. The main examination, which will be a test of Mathematics and English, will hold on Saturday, November 7.”
According to him, “Another novel idea with this year’s episode is that three states in the Northern part of the country (Abuja (FCT), Kwara and Niger) have joined the initial three states from Southern Nigeria (Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states) which have benefitted from the programme since its inception 5 years ago.
The President said the CMP is a programme targeted at SS3 students to prepare them for the final year examination with a view to offering scholarships to the brilliant but indigent students.
“JAMB fees would also be paid for candidates that distinguish themselves. Other consolation prizes include: free online training on life changing skills for the overall 50 best students, as well as invaluable educational materials amongst other prizes,” he added.
