Iconic pictures of Man observing salat in the middle of #EndSARS protests

There are many iconic pictures that have shut down the internet literally since the beginning of the #EndSARS protests last week but the one showing an unidentified gentleman observing salat (prayers) have found a special place in our hearts.

The pictures which have been circulated online since it surfaced over the weekend, aptly reminded everyone that, no matter where you are or what you’re doing, you can’t ignore your salat.

The young man, Muslim News learnt, understood and implemented the saying of our beloved Prophet, Muhammad (SAW); “The entire earth is a mosque except for graveyards and washrooms”, by praying just beside the road, right at the heart of the #EndSARS protests in Abuja.

Worry less about his intention, which is between him and his Lord, MN saw a young man standing before His Creator, in Salat.

Salat is the second pillar of Islam and is obligatory on all Muslims. The benefits of salat are physical, mental, psychological, spiritual and emotional. It is a standardized prayer that is offered five times daily at specified times while facing the Qibla, the direction of the Ka’aba in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

It consists of physical acts of standing, bowing, prostrating, kneeling and sitting during which the Qur’an is recited and the praises and glorification of Allah are recited all through the act of worship.

Purification through ablution is a precondition for observing salat. The salat is held dearly by Muslims whose faith in their Lord is such that the place and situation they are at the time of prayers does not deter them from observing it.

….in Sujud (prostration) before Allah

This young man is worthy of emulation by every Muslim in the world irrespective of whether they are pro #ENDSARS or #ReformSARS. Prayer puts us at ease and has the ability to sooth our worries, relieve us of stress and remind us to be patient.

This young man has taught us that in times like this when it is said that it is becoming increasingly hard to be a youth in this country, we should turn to Allah as he is the only One that has the power to change our condition for good. May Allah accept his prayers and the prayers of everyone. Aamin

… Sitting position

Have you observed your salat today?

Have you prayed for Nigeria today?

Infact he has rekindled the meaning of verse 13 of Surat Al kahf ( ch 18 ) of the glorious Quran :
نحن نقص عليك نبأهم بالحق إنهم فتية آمنوا بربهم وزدناهم هدى

Meaning : We shall relate to you their information, they were young men who believed in their Lord and We increased their guidance
