Alleged Blasphemy: Sultan of Sokoto condemns killing of female student, preaches peaceful co-existence

Sultan of Sokoto

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad III, on Thursday condemned the killing of a female student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education, identified as Ms Deborah over alleged blasphemy of Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him).

Recall that a viral video of a mob stoning and burning the female student caused a stir on the internet earlier today.

The monarch in a statement signed by the secretary of the Sultanate, Sa’idu Muhammadu Maccido, expressed that the culprits will be brought to book

The statement partly read, “The Sultanate council condemned the incident in its totality.

“And has urged the security agencies to bring the perpetrators of the unjustifiable incident to justice.”

The Sultan further urged “all to remain calm and ensure peaceful co-existence among all people of the State and nation.”
