Turkiye, Saudi Arabia strongly condemn Israeli aggression in Gaza, as Iran warns Tel-Aviv of heavy price

Turkiye, Saudi Arabia and Iran have strongly condemned and denounced on Saturday, the aggression of the Israeli occupation forces on the Gaza Strip, killing several Palestinians, including a five-year-old girl.

In their separate reactions monitored by Muslim News, the three Muslim countries expressed their unflinching support for the Palestinian people, calling on the international community to end Israeli terrorism in Gaza, an enclave under blockade.

“We strongly condemn the Israeli airstrikes on Gaza on Aug. 5. We find it unacceptable that civilians, including children, lost their lives in the attacks, said the Turkiye Foreign Ministry, adding that Ankara is observing the development with deep concern.

It therefore urged deescalation before the situation triggers an all-out war.

“We are deeply concerned about the rising tension in the region after the attacks. We emphasize the need to immediately end these events before they turn into a new conflict, and call for restraint and common sense,” the statement read.

In Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also denounced the aggression of the Israeli occupation forces on the Gaza Strip, calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to end the escalation of the Tel-Aviv aggression.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that Saudi Arabia would stand by the Palestinian people and support them.

The custodian of the two holiest mosques also called for providing the necessary protection for civilians, in addition to highlighting the importance of making intense efforts to end this protracted conflict.

In the same vein, the commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned of a “heavy price” for ongoing Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip.

Maj. Gen. Hossein Salami made the warning in a meeting with Palestine’s Islamic Jihad leader Ziyad al-Nakhalah in Tehran on Saturday.

Nakhalah, who arrived in Tehran on Wednesday, held a series of meetings with top Iranian officials, including President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and Supreme Leader’s top adviser Ali Akbar Velayati. The visit coincides with Israeli airstrikes in Gaza.

The attacks came amid rising tensions across the Palestinian territories since Monday when Israeli forces detained Bassam Al-Saadi, a senior leader of the Islamic Jihad group, in a raid in the West Bank city of Jenin.

In a statement issued by IRGC, Salami said Israel would pay a “heavy price” for its latest round of attacks on Gaza, vowing Iran’s support for Palestinian resistance groups.

He termed “developments” in Palestine and the “decline of the power” of Israel as a sign of its “collapse” while hailing Palestinian resistance groups, including Islamic Jihad, for their potential and ability to “manage major wars.”

Muslim News findings revealed that the death toll from the continuous Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since Friday rose to 15, apart from injuries to more than 125 people. The occupation warplanes carried out several missile raids on separate regions of the Gaza Strip, flattening several homes.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said that an elderly Palestinian woman was martyred in an Israeli raid near Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, after another woman was killed in an earlier Israeli strike.

Several people were injured when a civilian vehicle was targeted near the Beit Hanoun checkpoint in the northern Gaza Strip, while they were transporting a bride to her husband’s home.

Additionally, two Palestinian civilians were killed and several others were wounded, following the Israeli bombing of the Al-Zanah area in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.

The fighting began with Israel’s killing of a senior commander of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement in a wave of strikes on Friday.
