NAHCON Chairman mourns as Max Air CEO, Bashir Mangal buried in Katsina

The Chairman/CEO of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON, Alh Zikrullah Kunle Hassan has expressed shock over the death of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Max Air, Alhaji Bashir Mangal who returned to his Creator, Allah, in the early hours of Friday, December 23, after a brief illness.

Muslim News gathered that Alhaji Mangal, aged 53, was buried at the Danmarna Cemetery in Katsina, Katsina State, around 6pm same day (Friday), according to Islamic rites. The janazah (funeral prayers) was led by Imam Gambo Mustapha Amadu of the Katsina Central Mosque.

Some of the dignitaries that graced the funeral include his elder brother, Alhaji Dahiru Bara’u Mangal, a business mogul and Chairman of Max Air; Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; Katsina Deputy Governor, Mannir Yakubu; a former Kebbi State Governor, Senator Adamu Aliero and the Secretary to the Katsina State Government, Alhaji Muntari Lawal.

Bashir Mangal, former Vice Chairman of Max Air, is survived by two wives and five children.

The Chairman of NAHCON, Zikrullah Hassan, in a tribute described the late Executive Director of Max Air as a hard working and committed aviator. In his words, “Although you left suddenly, you lived a meaningful life and contributed your quota to making the world a better place, especially for the teeming Nigerian pilgrims who have had cause to fly Max Airline”

“Your willingness and commitment to helping the Hujjaj were second to none. NAHCON and indeed the entire hajj family can never forget you. My heartfelt sympathy goes to the entire Mangal family and in particular, Alh Dahiru Mangal, his friends, on this collosal loss.

“May Allah give them the fortitude to bear the loss. I prayed the Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant his soul eternal peaceful rest and give all the family and friends the fortitude to bear the loss,” he added.
