– As President Buhari flags off Hajj 2023 today

The Intending pilgrims from Nasarawa State who were involved in auto accident yesterday on their way to Hajj Camp Abuja for the Hajj 2023 inaugural flight will be airlifted today, Thursday, to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Deputy Director, Information & Publications, of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Mallam Mousa Ubandawaki told Muslim News that the Hajj-bound intending pilgrims didn’t sustain serious injuries, adding that the airlift operation will still go on as originally planned.

Muslim News gathered that president Muhammadu Buhari is expected to officially flag off the 2023 Hajj with the inaugural airlift scheduled for today, Thursday, at Hajj terminal, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The airlifting will commence with the first batch of intending pilgrims from Nasarawa, who narrowly escaped death when an 18-seater bus conveying them to Abuja was involved in an accident, around Kara, Keffi Local Government Area of the state.

The Executive Secretary of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Idris Ahmad Almakura, who visited the intending pilgrims at the Federal Medical Centre Keffi, however said those who sustained minor injuries will be allowed to continue with their journey to the holy land as planned.

In a report by Hajj Reporters, Mal. Almakura explained that two out of the victims had fractures in their legs while one sustained a serious neck injury and had to be dropped as they would be unable to embark on the spiritual journey.

The Executive Secretary who was accompanied by some board members and staff of the board called on the affected pilgrims to remain calm and have faith in God, saying the board has settled all the medical bills, just as he appealed to the management of the hospital to give more attention to the victims for quick response.
