Sadio Mane performs Umrah with teammates days after joining Ronaldo at Al Nassr

Sadio Mane, the reigning African Footballer of the Year, on Friday, August 4, 2023 performed umrah (lesser pilgrimage) few days after joining Cristiano Ronaldo at Saudi Arabian side, Al Nassr from Bayern Munich.

The pictures/videos of the Senegalese footballer and his Muslim teammates in Ihram (sacred state) went viral on social media as they performed umrah, showcasing their commitment to Islam.

Mane – also the Muslim News Global Muslim Celebrity of the Year 2021 travelled from Jeddah to Makkah for the religious rite, after his new team’s 1-1 draw against Zamalek in the Arab Club Champions Cup 2023.

According to a report by Sportstiger.com Mane and his teammates used their time in Makkah to seek spiritual blessings and express their gratitude for their performance in the match against Zamalek where Cristiano Ronaldo scored and 87-minute equaliser to send his team into the quarterfinal of the Arab Club Champions Cup.

Although Mane couldn’t find the back of the net in his debut game, he took to Instagram to thank his 38-year-old teammate for his crucial goal.
