Senator Adebule distributes food palliative to 10,000 constituents

As your Senator, my primary duties are to propose laws that will help us achieve our goals, represent the interest of my constituents, and oversee the executive arm of government to ensure better service delivery. However, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, during tough times like this in the life of our nation, it is also a matter of duty and responsibility for me to support my constituents through social intervention programmes such as the one happening today.

Senator Adebule distributes food palliative to 10,000 constituents

Lagos West Senator, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, has flagged off the distribution of food palliative to 10,000 people in her constituency.

The flag-off ceremony took place at Police College, Ikeja on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

Each beneficiary was handed a pack that contained food items such as rice, semovita, vegetable oil, garri, pasta and tomato paste.

Speaking at the event, the Senator said she was fulfilling her pledge to always stand by her constituents in times of need.

She said her primary responsibility is to make law and represent the interests of her constituents, but would not hesitate to come through for them during tough times.

“As your Senator, my primary duties are to propose laws that will help us achieve our goals, represent the interest of my constituents, and oversee the executive arm of government to ensure better service delivery. However, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, during tough times like this in the life of our nation, it is also a matter of duty and responsibility for me to support my constituents through social intervention programmes such as the one happening today.”

Senator Adebule

Senator Adebule said in her nine months in office, she has regularly distributed food items to her constituents during national celebration periods, noting that she also supported young and old farmers in Lagos West with bags of fertiliser in preparation for the planting season.

“In December 2023, I facilitated the training of 200 young people in fisheries at the Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research, Victoria Island and each of the participants was given a starter capital of One Hundred Thousand Naira as my contribution towards integrating the young people of Lagos-West into the new drive for a marine economy in Nigeria,” she added.

Noting that the flag-off ceremony is a symbolic kickstart of the distribution, Senator Adebule said all beneficiaries who are unable to be at the venue due to the inconvenience of pulling such a large number in a location will surely receive their packs.

“Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, this is just the tip of the iceberg. We have various intervention programmes that will be executed as we go along. I am happy to announce that shortly, I will also be reaching out to senior citizens and widows as part of our social intervention programme.

“Dear constituents, be assured that I will stand by you in all circumstances. All I request is your support and understanding always as we roll out these programmes one after the other,” she said.

The event was attended by community and religious leaders, leaders of thoughts, party chieftains and other stakeholders from across the senatorial district.

Senator Adebule urged her constituents to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the country is undergoing rebirth for economic prosperity, national stability, improved security and social justice.

Some of the packs

“Our dear country is going through a rebirth under the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR); a rebirth for economic prosperity, national stability, improved security and social justice for all. Nigeria is a unique country and populated by highly motivated, vibrant, talented and brilliant young people as well as highly
cerebral and experienced senior citizens, therefore, we have no business with socio-economic failures.

“With the abundant human and material resources at our disposal, nothing should hold us back from achieving our glory as a nation. That is the reason we all need to pull together and channel our energies in support of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) who has been executing difficult but appropriate policies and programmes that will surely lead us to sustainable economic prosperity and national stability.

“As we grapple with the fallouts of the ongoing economic reforms, we must acknowledge that the cost of living crisis is a global phenomenon and not peculiar to Nigeria. However, the inconvenient sacrifices we are making today to
build a more resilient economy, is for a better, brighter and bountiful tomorrow.”

The Senator similarly appealed for support for Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, whom she described as ‘Mr. Sellable’, working tirelessly to make the state a better place for everyone.

In his own address at the event, the Chairman of Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Cornelius Ojelabi commended Senator Adebule for her intervention programme, noting the party is proud of her show of concern for her constituents.

The Chairman also urged Nigerians to be patient with the administration of President Tinubu, whom he said is aware of the current situation of things and is working at bringing ease to the people.

“We are very proud of Senator Adebule. We are very proud of the palliative items she has presented to members of her constituency today. We appreciate the people for believing in the philosophy of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and that is the result of what they are benefitting now. We are happy Senator Adebule feels the challenges her constituents are facing, which actually brought about today’s event.

“I advise the people to be patient with the present administration. The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is aware of what we are passing through. He knows the economy is not all good, and he is doing everything possible to revamp the economy and make things easy for the people of Nigeria. So, our people should continue to be patient and include our leaders in their prayers. We shall overcome these difficult times.”
