* Says opportunities abound for learners of language

The Proprietor of Ma’ahdu Nuur Academy for Quranic Memorisation and Islamic Studies, Ibadan, Oyo State, Imam Ismaeel Olaide Aleem, has emphasised the importance of Arabic, the language of Islam, a religion that has around 2 billion adherents globally.
The Islamic teacher and mentor stated that Arabic is the language of the Qur’an and Sunnah – the two key sources of Islamic legislation, adding that salat (prayer), the second pillar of Islam, is not valid unless it is recited in Arabic language.
Imam Aleem made the statement in an interview with Muslim News where he disclosed that the academy is currently admitting students into JSS 1 and JSS 2 for 2024/2025 academic session.
Situated in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital, the modern Arabic/Islamic school with full boarding facilities is also enrolling students (JSS 1 to 3) for its full Tahfeedh (Quran memorisation) programme.
The Proprietor said students who enroll in the Tahfeedh class are expected to commit the entire Qur’an to heart with deep knowledge of tajweed in just one year, adding that interviews for admissions have been slated for Saturday, September 15, 2024 at the institute’s premises located at Zone 25, Aba Ori-Oke, New Felele Extension, Soka Ibadan, by 10 am prompt.
According to him, “Arabic is the language that the Almighty Allah chose to express His message to the world through the tongue of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
He (SWT) says: ‘And We did not send a messenger except in the language of his people, that He might make it clear to them. So, Allah misleads whom He wills and guides whom He wills. He is the Mighty, the Wise.’ Suratu Ibrahim Verse 4
“The Arabic language is of great importance to Muslims. It is the language of the sources of Islamic legislation, the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet, and prayer is not valid in Islam unless it is mastered.”
Imam Aleem added that Arabic has become a global language that has gained wide acceptance to the extent of being taught in colleges and universities.
“With the spread of Islam and its civilization, the status of the Arabic language rose, and it became the language of politics, science, and literature taught in institutes, colleges, and universities, especially in Nigeria today.
Speaking on the importance of Arabic in expanding frontier of knowledge, Imam Aleem noted that there is no university in Nigeria without a department for Arabic studies.
According to him, “Those who graduate from the Arabic department are accorded the status enjoyed by specialists in other sciences in recognition, and they reach the highest positions possible in the country, such as Professor Ishaq Oloyede, Professor Abdul Majeed Alaro, Professor Lakin Akintola and others.
“Moreover, the Ministry of Education in Nigeria has recognised the certificate of Arabic schools who registered their schools under NBAIS, meaning that they are admitted into Nigerian universities with NBAIS, and with this and other internal and external opportunities, Arabic and Islamic language learners in Nigeria have a wonderful and beautiful future – God willing.”
Imam Aleem therefore called on Nigerian youths to develop keen interest in learning Arabic and enroll at Ma’ahdu Nuur Academy, which also offers online Quranic and Arabic classes thrice in a week,
“Our online Qur’an and Arabic Class holds on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for children aged 5 to 15 and adults above 16. Our work at Ma’ahdu Nuur Academy is to develop and preserve Arabic as a heritage language, and ensure its spread among the citizens of Nigeria.
“The school authority says there is a full scholarship opportunity for candidates who demonstrate exceptional brilliance during the interview,” he added.
