* Holds maiden meeting with top officials
Prof Abdullahi Usman Saleh has expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the opportunity to serve following his resumption in acting capacity as the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
Prof Saleh who arrived at NAHCON Hajj House Abuja on Friday, September 13, prayed for Allah’s guidance for successful deliberations as he leads the Commission in charge of regulating Hajj and Umrah activities in Nigeria.
Muslim News gathered that Prof Saleh was acting based on the directive from the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, asking him to “take up his position” at the Hajj House immediately.
It would be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had appointed Usman on August 19, following the dismissal of Jalal Arabi, former chairman of the commission.
On Friday, September 13, the former Chairman of Kano State Pilgrims Board officially resumed duty in acting capacity as the head of NAHCON and his first meeting with top officials of the Commission.
Some of the official who attended the meeting include Commissioner Planning, Research, Statistics, Information and Library Services, (PRISLS) Prof Abubakar A. Yagawal; Commissioner Operations, Inspectorate and Licensing, Prince Anofi Elegushi (OIL) and Commissioner Policy, Personnel Management and Finance,(PPMF) Prince Aliu AbdulRazaq.
Dr. Saleh Usman Muhammad, Special Assistant (Technical) to the Acting Chairman, was also at the meeting.
In his opening remarks, the Acting Chairman gave gratitude to the Almighty Allah for the opportunity to serve.
He noted with concern that evidently from the minutes of last meeting, there are matters of urgency that need deliberations over them.
Prof Saleh prayed for Allah’s guidance for successful deliberations.
