Alhaja Rizqat, a niqabite and one of the wives of Alhaji Kunle Sanni, has successfully defended her PhD thesis at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria.
Her thesis is titled “Explicit embedded and Activity-based reflective Strategies and Senior Secondary School Students’ learning outcomes in Mathematics in Ibadan, Nigeria”
She becomes the second Muslim woman using the purdah to bag a doctorate in the 76 years history of the country’s premier university, Muslim News reports.
The first niqabite to bag a PhD at UI was Dr. Kafilat Motunrayo Oyaremi.
Alhaja Rizqat is one of the wives of a prominent Muslim leader in southwest Nigeria and Chairman of the Oyo State Muslim Community, Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni.
She studied Mathematics at the institution’s Faculty of Education.
A statement by Alhaji Sirojudeen Olabamji, the Personal Assistant to Alhaji Sanni, also confirmed the development.
The Personal Assistant revealed that the daughter of Alhaja Rizqat, Tariqat Sanni, would also be inducted into the nursing profession on Tuesday, 22nd October 2024 at the University of Ilorin.
“Double congratulations to her as her daughter Tariqat Sanni also got her BSc Nursing in flying colours and would have her induction into the nursing profession next Tuesday, 22nd October, at the University of Ilorin,” the statement read.
“Congratulations to our boss, Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni. We wish his family more success in life.”
