FACT-CHECK: Did Europe release a poster labelling Israeli PM Netanyahu ‘Terrorist’?

In our advocacy for the liberation of Palestine, there is no need for us to indulge in falsehood to back our justifiable cause just because the oppressors also employ falsehood.

FACT-CHECK: Did Europe release a poster labelling Israeli PM Netanyahu ‘Terrorist’?

A video showing King Charles III unveiling a poster which labels Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a terrorist is going viral on social media especially telegram and WhatsApp platforms.

What have users said?: Those sharing the video have captioned it saying, “Europe declared Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu an international terrorist. A big poster of this was unveiled yesterday. Do viral world wide (sic).”

We received multiple queries about the viral video on our WhatsApp tipline as well.

— Abdullah Khilji (@Abdulla92091082) October 28, 2024

Is this claim true?: No, the video has been altered to add the poster labelling Israeli PM Netanyahu as a terrorist. The original one showed King Charles III unveiling a portrait of his own in May of this year.

How did we find that out?: While it became clear that the viral video was edited when we went through it. However, we performed a Google Lens search on the keyframes of the video to find the original source.

* This directed us to similar visuals published on 15 May 2024 on a YouTube channel named ‘WKYCChannel3’.

* It was titled, “King Charles unveils his first portrait since coronation at Buckingham Palace.”

* This showed that the viral video was indeed altered to add the poster of Israeli PM Netanyahu.

* A longer version of the clip from the same event was posted on the official YouTube channel of ‘The Royal Family’.

* The video was shared on 14 May and its description mentioned, “King Charles has unveiled the first completed official portrait of himself since The Coronation, painted by renowned artist Jonathan Yeo.”

Conclusion: It is evident that the viral video has been edited to mislead the viewers.

Muslim News: Even to the knowledge of an infant growing in today’s world, that Netanyahu is an international terrorist is common knowledge and needs no validation from the so-called powerhouses in politics; Europeans or Americans .

In our advocacy for the liberation of Palestine, there is no need for us to indulge in falsehood to back our justifiable cause just because the oppressors also employ falsehood.

Let’s stick with the truth in showing our support and we believe, from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.

Designated Terrorist: Some countries have however designated Israel a terrorist state and Benjamin Netanyahu a terrorist.

Pakistan

The Pakistani government on July 2024 officially decided to recognize Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “terrorist” and has called on the international community to do the same.

Turkiye

Also, Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is a strong critic of Benjamin Netanyahu who has on several occasions declared the Israeli Prime Minister as international terrorist. He also called for Israeli officials to be tried for war crimes.

Israeli genocidal war on Gaza: Casualties

At least 77 more Palestinians were killed in relentless Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip over the last two days, pushing up the overall death toll since last year to 42,924, the Health Ministry in the enclave said on Saturday.

Some 100,833 others have also been injured in the year-long, ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza, according to a ministry statement.

“The Israeli occupation has committed seven massacres of families in the last 48 hours, resulting in 77 deaths and 289 injuries,” the ministry said.

“Many people are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads, as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added.
