Oluwo of Iwo raises concern over deity that preys on human blood in Yorubaland

Oluwo of Iwo raises concern over deity that preys on human blood in Yorubaland

* Says it’s pacified with one to three humans in a month

The paramount ruler of Iwoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu I, has called on the three arms of government and law enforcement agencies to formulate and enforce laws that will curtail all forms of ritual killings and human sacrifices in society.

He made this plea in a video where he exposed the spate of evil practices of some ritualists and traditionalists who reportedly use human beings for fortifications, fame and abundant wealth.

Oluwo specifically made reference to a particular deity in Yorubaland that preys on human blood for sacrifices, saying three human beings are sacrificed monthly to appease the deity.

“My main concern is an idol or deity, known as Oosa in Yoruba, to which people now give their veneration across Yorubaland. This deity preys on nothing but humans, and its subjects become initiates either because they want to amass great wealth or they need to fortify themselves, for politicking or other reasons known to them.

“The idol is made for its devouts to take home and start paying their dues. Sometimes, it’s pacified with one human soul in a month. It’s three at some other times, depending on the purpose and prospect.”

He narrated his experience within his kingdom in recent times and another in Gbongan, not far from Iwo.

“It happened in Iwo recently, and the culprits were apprehended. The perpetrator hypnotised their target with some enchanted items and charms that make their victims lose their senses and are subsequently slain in cold blood. Herbalists, healers, sorcerers, native doctors, and clergymen who have deviated from the path of truth are all involved. They are the sponsors of this menace.

“Not too long ago, there was an outburst in Gbongan when the remains of a child was found around an occult’s house, and it polluted the atmosphere. We had to banish the perpetrator that was caught in Iwo as well because he committed such atrocious crime, yet, the police left him to walk freely not long after.”

The influential monarch from Iwo, Osun State expressed resentment as perpetrators of such heinous acts go unpunished because there are no laws to reprimand them.

Hence, he urged the government to come up with legislations and enforce laws that will protect innocent lives from the threats posed by sorcery, witchcraft, and related machinations.

He said: “Like the UK did in the 17th Century, let’s also promulgate laws against sorcery and witchcraft. That’s the only way we can curb this menace and protect the lives of our younger generations. We have to clip the wings of evil sorcerers and all their accomplices. There is so much bloodshed in the land, and there are consequences for such.”

He stressed the need for swift action to nip in the bud rising incidences of the ongoing consequential bloodshed in Yorubaland.
