In a moment that wove tradition and joy into a tapestry of grace, the serene hall of Apata Memorial High School, Isolo, Lagos bore witness to a double celebration of faith and family as revered Muslim scholar, Sheikh A’Ghaniy Abdul Haadi marked a day of profound significance giving the hands of his two beloved daughters, Safiyyah Omolara and Hafsah Omoyemi in Nikaah to Abdul Waheed Omobolaji Shotonwa and Dr. Abdul Hameed Abioye Elesin.
The Aqdu and Walimatu-n-nikaah which saw the solemnization carried out by the Grand Mufti, Conference of Islamic Organisations (CIO), Sheikh Dhikrullah Shafi’i was resplendent with the echoes of heartfelt prayers and the shimmer of familial love, a testament to the cherished values of unity and devotion preached by the institution of marriage in Islam.
It was not merely a union of souls but a celebration of the bonds that knit generations together, leaving an indelible imprint in the hearts of families, colleagues, friends and other well wishers who gathered in their beautiful attires to witness the divine wedding vows inspired by Surah Ar-Rum (Quran 30: 21) where Allah says:
“And one of His signs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves so that you may find comfort in them. And He has placed between you compassion and mercy. Surely in this are signs for people who reflect.”
Fascinatingly, one of the grooms, Abdul Waheed Shotonwa was one of our pioneer members at Muslim News, whose immeasurable contributions were pivotal in setting the rocks that built the foundation of the most authoritative Islamic Newspaper in Nigeria.
