A new autobiography titled: “Footprints in Broadcasting’, has been unveiled in honour of Aremo Taiwo Alimi, a renowned former Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria.

Authored by Dr. Qazim Akinreti, Deputy Director of the Voice of Nigeria, the book celebrates Alimi’s illustrious life and career as he marks a significant milestone – his 80th birthday.

The Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris Malagi, who was represented by Alhaji Ahmad Yawa commended Alimi for his immense contributions to journalism, describing him as a distinct personality who deserves to be celebrated.

The Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Jubril Baba Ndache, applauded Alimi’s unwavering passion for broadcasting, citing his enduring love for the Voice of Nigeria as an organisation and his commitment to integrity and excellence while he served as the DG.

Ndache represented by Dr. Tajudeen Adebayo, praised Alimi citing his remarkable passion for broadcasting in Nigeria continues to be a source of inspiration.

Adebayo relayed the message from VON DG thus; “He was struck by his professional enthusiasm years after leaving VON which serve as his enduring love for the organisation.

His dedication to the vision and mission of VON is evident as he is a shinning example of commitment and excellence in broadcasting. The passion he has for the media industry in Nigeria and in Africa as a whole as continue to inspire media professionals in the continent,” he said.

The author of the book, a Deputy Director at VON, Dr. Qazim Akinreti describes Aremo Alimi as a man who rewards hard work, underscoring his unwavering dedication to excellence in broadcasting. The autobiography promises to offer a unique glimpse into Alimi’s life, experiences, and contributions to the broadcasting industry.

The 80th birthday celebration was attended by several dignitaries, including representatives from the Lagos State House of Assembly, the Ministry of Information, media professionals and personalities from the academia.

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, represented by the General Manager of Radio Lagos, Mr. Olajide Lawal commended Alimi for his mentorship and guidance during his early days as a broadcaster.

Alhaji Ahmad Yawa, representing the Ministry of Information, praised Alimi’s immense contributions to journalism, highlighting his distinct personality and deserving celebration.

Kayode Akinyemi, General Manager of News Central, commended Alimi’s tenacity and passion for the job, sharing personal anecdotes of Alimi’s guidance and mentorship.

Aremo Olusegun Osoba, former Governor of Ogun State and journalism doyen, said Alimi’s contributions to broadcast journalism are immeasurable.
