MSSN Lagos to train thousands of Muslim youths as 114th IVC begins in Epe

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit (MSSNLagos) on Tuesday, December 24 began its Islamic Vacation Course (IVC), an annual camping programme meant to inform, educate, and remind Muslim youths of the teachings of Allah and His Prophet (SAW).

The 114th edition of the camping programme with the theme “The Message,” will run through Monday, December 30 at its Human Capital Development Centre (HCDC) permanent site at Noforija, Epe, Lagos.

Muslim News gathered that more than than 5,000 Muslim students are expected to attend the one-week long camp, which promises to be a historic and transformative experience, bringing participants together in an unprecedented one-phase camp.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Amir, (President), Mal. Kamoldeen Abiona described this year’s camp as a milestone in the history of Islamic camping programme, adding that, “This is not just another IVC; it is a unique opportunity to reflect on ‘The Message,’ which underscores the creedal message of pristine Islam.

According to him, previously we have had two-phase cramping programmes for secondary school students, undergraduates and others separately. For this year, however, it’s one-phase. We believe that having all of them together will foster unity and enrich the spiritual experience for all delegates.

Expounding on the significance of the theme, Abiona said, “The Message is a call to reconnect with the foundational teachings of Islam, emphasizing its universality and relevance in today’s world. Through this camp, we aim to impart enduring values, strengthen faith, and inspire delegates to live impactful lives guided by Islamic principles.”

The camp, which will feature a blend of spiritual, academic, and career-development activities, is set to host renowned Islamic scholars and captains of industries. Delegates will benefit from diverse learning sessions designed to enhance their spiritual growth and equip them with the tools needed for success in both their professional and personal lives.

Abiona highlighted the camp’s commitment to delivering an enriching experience for delegates, noting that it would combine beneficial teachings with interactive and exciting activities. “Delegates should expect a well-rounded program that blends spiritual awakening with practical insights from industry leaders across the private and public sectors,” he added.

The Amir encouraged participants to prepare themselves spiritually and physically to fully maximize the opportunities the camp presents. He emphasized, “The IVC is more than a gathering; it is a life-changing platform. I urge all delegates to approach it with an open heart and a determination to grow spiritually, academically, and professionally.”

In his closing remarks, Abiona assured that the MSSNLagos team is working diligently to ensure a smooth and impactful camp. “We are committed to making this year’s IVC not just memorable but a defining moment in the lives of every delegate,” he said.

… Subsidizes tfare for delegates across Area Councils

Meanwhile, in a bid to make means of transportation of its members across various locations in the state to the camp site seamless, the Muslim Students’ body facilitated subsidized rates with the Lagos Bus Service Limited (LBSL), through its Area Councils, which saw IVC attendees benefit from subsidized rates of transportation.

In addition to this development, MSSNLagos and leaders of the society in all the local government areas of Lagos also made arrangements for movement schedules, which cut across strategic locations for seamless commuting of delegates to the camp.

…Fortifies security team on crowd control

In similar vein, MSSNLagos has been proactive by fortifying its protocol and security teams with more personnel in order to address crowd control and nip potential crisis in the bud.

In addition to the arrangements made to seamless commuting of delegates to the camp, MSSNLagos officials had arrived earlier to intensify adequate preparations to receive the delegates and admit them into camp in no time.

MSSNLagos, however, called on Muslim students across Lagos and beyond to seize this opportunity to deepen their faith and foster lasting connections with like-minded peers.

Abiona said the 2024 IVC is more than an event, adding that the experience will leave a lasting impression on delegates and inspire them to uphold ‘The Message’ in their daily lives.

…GRAMA to hold enlightenment session

As part of activities lined up for the IVC, the Graduate Members’ Association (GRAMA), an MSSNLagos organ, will be hosting enlightening sessions tailored for professionals in both private and public sectors.

The sessions will focus on career growth and networking which seek to give delegates a transformative time at the “Pyramids of Professional Growth.”

The GRAMA sessions will see delegates gain valuable insights; network with fellow professionals in a bid to elevate their careers and spiritual growth and offer them the chance to gain actionable strategies for career and personal development.

Group Managing Director of Courteville Business Solutions Plc, Dr. Adebola Akindele is expected to share insights on navigating the “Pyramids of Professional Growth” and inspire youths to unlock their potential as a guest speaker.
