Muslim News rejoices as Maryam Olagunju graduates from UNILAG

* Says degree in Mass Communication dream come true

Rawshield PR Media, the publisher of Muslim News Nigeria is celebrating a proud moment as one of her presenters, Princess Maryam Olagunju graduated from the University of Lagos.

She expressed her excitement upon graduating from the Department of Mass Communication, noting that her 7-year journey has reached a fulfilling conclusion.

Princess Olagunju, who has contributed to various recordings for Muslim News Nigeria TV, including the “Top 10 Muslim Stories that Made Headlines During the Week,” shared her thrill at earning a degree from the university of choice.

“Obtaining a degree in Mass Communication is truly a dream come true for me. After a long journey of seven years, I’m grateful to have completed my studies at the University of Lagos,” she stated.

She highlighted the invaluable experiences she gained, mentioning that she had opportunities for practical assignments that some of her peers at other institutions did not experience.

“Going to rural areas for stories and other hands-on projects were challenging yet rewarding experiences,” she added.

Born in Ede, Osun State, Olagunju also completed her internship with Clear TV Nigeria.

In an interview with Muslim News, she explained that while the programme was intended to last five years, various factors extended it to seven. “Yes, I spent seven years on the programme that was originally designed to be completed in five because of the ICE programme I enrolled in. Strikes and the COVID-19 pandemic contributed to the delay. I was supposed to graduate in 2022, but I ultimately graduated in 2024,” she explained.

Princess Olagunju expressed her gratitude to those who mentored her along the way: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Publisher of Muslim News Nigeria, Alhaji Rashed Abubakar, and the Executive Director of Clear TV Nigeria, Mr. Idris Kasumu, for being incredible mentors.”

She also offered her heartfelt thanks to Allah and her family for their continuous support and prayers.

“I’m deeply grateful to Allah for everything. I extend my sincere appreciation to my fathers, Prince Imran Kolawole Bushra Olagunju and his wife, my mother, Alhaja Kudirat Olagunju, as well as Prince Sulayman Adegboyega Olagunju and his wives, Hajia Mutiat Olagunju and Dr Mujeedah Olagunju, for their unwavering support and prayers.”

Additionally, she thanked her sister, Bushrah Olagunju Matemilola, her other siblings and cousins, and everyone else who believed in her, even if she couldn’t name them all.
