Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Lasbat Mojisola Meranda, has re-appointed Imam Ridwan Ayodeji Lawal as Senior Special Assistant on Islamic Affairs.
Muslim News gathered that Imam Lawal also served in the same capacity in the administration of the immediate past Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.
Ridwan, an indigene of Lagos, boasts over 20 years of professional experience, rising to the cadre of Deputy Director at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
He serves as Imam at the Lagos State House of Assembly Central Mosque, and has been appointed Secretary to various House Committees, including Works and Infrastructure, Environment and Water Resources, Tourism, Information and Strategy, Judiciary and Public Petitions, and Home Affairs.
Ridwan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Lagos State University, and a Master’s in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos.
He is an alumnus of the prestigious International Law Institute in Washington D.C. and has earned a certificate from the renowned University of Cambridge Judge Business School in the UK.
The appointee graduated from the Advanced Islamic Academy under the esteemed guidance of Sheikh Dr. Abdul Hakeem Abayomi.
He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Business Administration at Lagos State University, specializing in project and product management.
Ridwan is a member of both the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs and the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered).
Lasbat emerged the new Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly following the removal of Mudashiru Obasa, which has generated controversies.
With her unanimous election, Lasbat made history as the first female speaker of the Lagos parliament.
