Sakinah Outreach announces free medical procedures for underserved Nigerians in Abuja

Dr Salman Yusuf

A not-for-profit organisation, Sakinah Medical Outreach, has concluded all arrangements to hold her medical mission in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, saying that it will serve over 100 underserved persons.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Chairman of the Medical Outreach, Dr. Salman Yusuf.

Muslim News gathered that no less than nine medical procedures will be carried out during the medical mission, which holds between Sunday, 16th February and Friday, 21st February at the National Hospital Abuja.

Dr. Salman listed the procedures as including, Urethroplasty (treatment for urethral stricture), TURP/TURBT (advanced procedures for prostate and kidney conditions), PCNL/RIRS (advanced procedures for kidney conditions), Kidney Stone Surgery (removal of painful kidney stones).

Others are: Laparoscopic Urology (minimally invasive urological surgeries), Diagnostic Flexible Cystoscopy (examination and diagnosis of bladder conditions), Lipoma Removal (safe surgical removal of fatty lumps), Circumcisions (male circumcision for medical and personal reasons), and Hernia Repairs (surgical treatment for hernias).

The Chairman said the mission is part of Sakinah Medical Outreach’s humble contribution to the wellbeing of Nigerians, irrespective of their backgrounds.

He said their organisation has provided free medical care to at least 13,000 Nigerians in 16 years.

“For 16 years, Sakinah Medical Outreach, aided by the unwavering support of our esteemed donors, partners, and volunteers, has provided free medical care to over 13,000 Nigerians, in Nigeria and also in countries like Germany, India and Turkiye, as well as medical education to millions more.

“We are proud of this legacy and our unrelenting commitment to continue providing hope, love, and compassion to those in need,” he noted.

Dr. Salman said they are guided by the Islamic values of compassion, care, and love for all as they embark on the mission.

“We believe that every human life is precious and deserves access to quality healthcare,” he added.

“As the Qur’an reminds us, “We sent thee (O Muhammad) not, but as a mercy for all creatures” (Quran 21:107)

“The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also emphasized the importance of caring for the sick, saying, “The best of deeds is to care for the sick.” (Bukhari)

The Chairman thanked donors, partners and supporters, specifically Medics Across Continents (MAC) and National Hospital Abuja (NHA), noting they continue to count on the support of both corporate organisations and individuals.

“We look forward to this opportunity to serve humanity and bring joy to the faces of our beneficiaries and their loved ones.

“May Allah (SWT) guide and bless our efforts, and may we be rewarded for our sincerity and dedication to serving humanity,” he said.
