Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has joined the Muslim community worldwide, especially in the state, in welcoming Ramadan, the ninth lunar month, during which fasting is prescribed for Muslims.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor specifically congratulated the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, on the arrival of the month of mercy, during which the Holy Qur’an was revealed to the blessed Prophet Muhammad.
“May the holy month bring us more blessings and spiritual fulfillment,” the governor prayed.
Governor AbdulRazaq thanked Almighty Allah for preserving the lives of the people in the state to witness another Ramadan. He prayed that Allah accepts their prayers and acts of worship and blesses them with the spiritual fulfillment, forgiveness, and mercy that come with Ramadan.
The governor also urged the community to spend this solemn month praying for a stronger, safer, and more prosperous nation and Kwara State.
Gov Sanwo-Olu urges sacrifice, unity
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended his warm felicitations to all Muslims faithful as they commence the holy month of Ramadan today.
In a post via his X page on Saturday, the Lagos governor described Ramadan as a sacred month and a time for deep reflection, renewed faith, and acts of kindness.
Sanwo-Olu urged Nigerians to embrace the values of compassion, unity, and generosity and prayed for continued progress and harmony in the state and beyond.
He wrote, “Ramadan Kareem to all our Muslim brothers and sisters. This sacred month is a time for deep reflection, renewed faith, and acts of kindness. May your fasting and prayers bring you peace, prosperity, and abundant blessings.
“As we embrace the values of compassion, unity, and generosity, let us uplift one another and extend love to those in need. Lagos is a home for all, and in this season of devotion, we pray for continued progress and harmony in our state and beyond.”
Gov Zulum calls for deep sober reflection
Similarly, Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the commencement of the Ramadan fast for the year 1446 AH.
In a statement by the Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, Governor Zulum described the holy month as a period for deep sober reflection, patience and dedicated community service.
The governor noted that this year’s Ramadan fast is coming at a time when the state continues to experience sustainable peace.
He highlighted that this stability has enabled farmers in resettled communities to actively engage in agricultural activities, resulting in a bumper harvest.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to lasting peace and economic recovery, Governor Zulum pledged his administration’s continued support for the military and other security agencies.
He also reiterated the administration’s commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity, particularly through irrigation farming and livestock development, while also prioritising technical and vocational education to improve livelihoods and accelerate the state’s recovery from the dislocation of 16 years of insurgency.
“I congratulate the Muslim Ummah for witnessing the holy month of Ramadan. I reaffirm my dedication to implementing people-centred and community-oriented policies and programmes that will fast-track our post-insurgency recovery efforts,” Governor Zulum stated.
He urged the Muslim faithful to use the month-long Ramadan fast to pray for enduring peace in Borno State and across the country, as well as for improved economic growth and prosperity.
…Prayers for good leadership, nation: Gov Bago
In a heartfelt message marking the commencement of Ramadan, Governor Umaru Bago of Niger has called on the good people of the State to engage in sustained prayers for the President, the nation, and the state government.
He emphasized the importance of seeking divine guidance to ensure the security of lives and property while steering the country toward prosperity.
In his Ramadan message, communicated through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago highlighted the month of Ramadan as a unique period of spiritual reflection that brings blessings, favoUrs, and forgiveness to those who participate earnestly.
He urged the Muslim community in Niger State to utilize this time for spiritual rejuvenation and growth, advocating for a positive impact on all aspects of their lives that transcends the holy month.
The governor also encouraged residents to embrace acts of kindness and generosity during this sacred period, emphasizing that such actions would earn them eternal rewards
To support the less privileged, he announced the allocation of food items for the Ramadan period, aimed at facilitating their participation in the fast.
Governor Umaru Bago called on those responsible for distributing these items to act with fairness, integrity, and a genuine spirit of service to achieve the intended goals.
In concluding his message, Governor Umaru Bago extended his best wishes to the Muslim community on the advent of Ramadan and reaffirmed his commitment to improving living conditions for the residents of Niger State.
