It was another mourning period for the Nigerian Muslim community as two of its frontline returned to their Creator, Allah.
They are Sheikh Idris Abdulaziz, a popular Islamic cleric based in Bauchi, and Chief Yekeen Adeojo, Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland.
Sheikh Abdulaziz who founded the Dutsen Tanshi Majlis — an Islamic centre known for the propagation of Islam and Sunnah — died late Thursday, according to a statement posted by the centre on Facebook.
The janazah prayer for the late scholar held Friday morning at the Games Village, Bauchi, attended by a large crowd of Muslim faithful from far and wide.
Muslim News gathered that Sheikh Idris Abdulaziz usually presided over lectures at his centre, but was bedridden throughout the month of Ramadan. The most part of the lectures during the holy month was therefore presided over by his students.
Chief Adeojo, according to reports, passed on after a brief illness on Friday. He was buried the same day at his Iyaganku residence in Ibadan in accordance to Islamic rites.
Adeojo was an influential political player and elder statesman in Oyo State. He also held the title of Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland.
The janazah prayer was led by Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh AbdulGaniy Agbotomokekere.
Mammoth crowd participated in the janazah of the Seriki Musulumi, who was deeply committed to promoting Islam, peace, unity, and religious harmony.
