Jigawa State Government has approved the use of hijab for willing female security operatives within the state.
The approval was conveyed at the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held on Monday, April 14, 2025.
The meeting, Muslim News gathered, was chaired by Governor Umar Namadi.
In a statement issued by Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Sagir Ahmed, the state government said the approval is in line with its efforts to provide an inclusive and enabling environment for all citizens, particularly women.
“The Council has issued a directive to the three security guard companies operating in the state,” the statement read.
“These companies are to allow female security operatives among the 9,969 young people recruited to wear Hijabs while on duty, as a matter of religious and cultural accommodation.”
The statement added further that the decision reaffirms the administration’s support for respectful workplace policies that uphold modesty, inclusion, and dignity.
The cabinet also took other important decisions as they affect the state at the meeting.
