* Grand Imam of Ogbomosoland, Mufti of Yorubaland, others praise Daru Na’iim Founder’s commitment to scholarship
One of Nigeria’s leading Muslim scholars and Chief Imam of Daaru Naim Central Mosque, Lagos, Sheikh Imran Abdul Majeed Eleha, has been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Arabic by Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria.
The award came after Sheikh Eleha successfully defended his PhD thesis titled ‘Grammatical Analysis in the First Quarter of Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Salih al-Uthaymin’s Tafsir’ on Thursday, April 17.
Muslim News gathered that the presentation was witnessed by top academics from within and outside Al-Hikmah University, and several well-wishers from far and near.

On the panel were Associate Professor Uthman Abdussalam, Acting Head of Department of Languages, Al-Hikmah University; Professor Moshood Jimba, External Examiner from the Department of Linguistics, African and European Languages, Kwara State University, Malete; Dr. Abdulganiy Owoyale, Internal Examiner from the Department of Arts and Social Sciences, Al-Hikmah University.
Others are Professor Qaasim Badamaasi (first supervisor); Professor AbdurRahman Ahmad (co-supervisor); and Dr. M.J. Dosunmi, departmental postgraduate coordinator.
Following his oral defense, the panel approved the award of PhD to Sheikh Imran Eleha, and posited that his thesis should not be subjected to any further corrections.

Prof. Jimba said he has examined well over 20 PhD theses across universities in Nigeria, including Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; Bayero University, Kano; Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto; among others, adding Sheikh Imran’s thesis is the best of them so far.
The panel awarded him an excellent grade for his PhD programme, making him emerge as the first PhD candidate in Al-Hikmah University with such achievement.
Commendations have continued to pour in for Dr. Imran Eleha since the feat was announced yesterday.
Grand Mufti of Yorubaland, Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, extended heartfelt congratulations to Sheikh Imran in a statement he issued.
He praised Dr. Imran’s dedication to Islamic scholarship and the promotion of Arabic language and culture.
“This great milestone is a testament to your unwavering commitment to the pursuit of knowledge and the development of Islamic education in our society,” he said.
“We pray Allah continues to increase you in wisdom and make your knowledge beneficial to the ummah.”
In his own statement, the Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland, Imam (Dr.) Yunus Teliat, said he was happy to learn about the successful PhD defense of Sheikh Imran Eleha.
The Imam said he’s proud of the achievements of Dr. Imran Eleha and it has been inspiring following his journey.
“This milestone is a testament to your commitment to scholarship, leadership in Islam and an ideal example of the advice of the noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW) that we should seek knowledge from cradle to grave,” the Ogbomoso Chief Imam said.
“Congratulations on this well-deserved success and best wishes for your future endeavours. May Almighty Allah make this another step towards the development of Islam.”

For his part, popular author, Abu Mazeedatul Khayr, said there are many lessons to learn from Dr. Imran Abdulmajeed Eleha.
“After acquiring a degree in Riyadh, like many others, he returned home to domesticate what he learned on the soil of Nigeria,” he said.
“He preached Islam and institutionalized its pristine ideas without bashing the ego of traditional scholars who had flourished ahead of him.”
Abu Mazeedatul Khayr prayed that Allah will bless the new status of Sheikh Imran Eleha.
“May Allah continue to make his knowledge, sincerity, and wisdom beneficial to humanity, in general, and Yoruba Muslims in particular,” he added.
