NDLEA arrests non-Muslim who disguised in hijab to smuggle cocaine in private part, stomach at P/Harcourt Airport

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested Ihensekhien Miracle Obehi at the Port Harcourt International Airport for attempting to smuggle 2.523 kilograms of cocaine to Iran.

Obehi, who is not a Muslim, disguised herself in a hijab to avoid detection while boarding a Qatar Airways flight to Iran via Doha on May 3, 2025.

Her cover was blown when NDLEA officers discovered three wraps of cocaine hidden in her private parts, two large parcels concealed in a false bottom of her handbag, and 67 pellets ingested in her stomach.

Following her arrest, she was placed under excretion observation, during which she expelled all the ingested pellets over several days.

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi stated, “She admitted she intended to swallow 70 pellets but could only ingest 67, so she decided to hide the remaining three in her private parts.”

Babafemi further clarified the suspect’s use of religious clothing to evade suspicion, stating, “The person disguises with hijab to do bad thing and not Muslim.”

The agency emphasized that the arrest is part of intensified efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks and expose the increasingly deceptive tactics used by couriers.
