ZSF gives out over N60m education, healthcare, empowerment support on 25th Anniversary

Recipient of N2.5 Million for health

Nigeria’s leading faith-based charity organisation, Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation (ZSF) has disbursed over N60m Zakat proceeds to beneficiaries in education, healthcare and economic empowerment categories.

The disbursement, held at Hajj Mabrur Hall, Anthony Village, Lagos, is in continuation of its 25th Anniversary of mobilising Zakat and Sadaqah fund for humanitarian services.

The Executive Director/CEO of the Foundation, Prince Sulaiman Olagunju, warmly welcomed guests, donors and beneficiaries at the milestone event.

Opening his address with praises to Almighty Allah and salutations to the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). “All praise is due to Almighty Allah (SWT), the One who places blessings in our intentions, our resources, and our efforts,” Olagunju began. “It is with heartfelt gratitude to Allah and deep appreciation for your presence that I welcome you to this special zakat disbursement event, organized by the Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation in continuation of our 25th anniversary celebration.”

Reflecting on the foundation’s enduring mission, Olagunju emphasized its role as a “bridge between the wealth of the fortunate and the needs of the vulnerable.”

Over the past 25 years, the foundation has consistently championed the equitable and impactful distribution of zakat and sadaqah.

He shared highlights of some recent interventions by the Foundation, including ₦5.75 million disbursed to support 23 students at the University of Lagos, ₦10 million provided to aid 103 displaced persons in Maiduguri, and over ₦2 million worth of business tools — including tailoring machines, grinding machines, and deep freezers — distributed to 15 zakat beneficiaries for sustainable livelihood opportunities.

During the event itself, the Foundation disbursed ₦8 million to support 40 students with their educational expenses and ₦37 million to provide medical assistance to 39 patients in need of critical care and surgeries.

Looking ahead, Prince Olagunju announced an ambitious plan to expand the Foundation’s impact even further. “As we celebrate 25 years of impact, I am pleased to announce that — by Allah’s grace and your continued support — we plan to disburse zakat worth over ₦500 million before the end of this year,” he revealed. “This will be our strongest commitment yet — a landmark in our journey to ensure that zakat truly reaches those for whom it is prescribed, in ways that uplift, empower, and restore dignity.”

He extended heartfelt prayers to both beneficiaries and donors: “To our beneficiaries: we pray that what you receive today becomes a turning point in your life. May Allah grant you ease, growth, and success. To our donors and partners: your contributions are not just numbers — they are life-changing acts of ibadah. May Allah accept it from you and continue to increase you in wealth, health, and reward.”

Quoting from the Qur’an, he reminded attendees of the spiritual significance of zakat: “Take from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase…” (Surah At-Tawbah, 9:103). “Indeed,” he concluded, “zakat purifies, increases, and heals — both giver and receiver. Let us continue this noble path together. Let us make the next 25 years even more impactful than the first.”
