As Muslims around the world mark the beginning of the new Islamic year, 1447 AH, the Muslim Community of Lagos State has extended warm felicitations to the faithful, urging reflection, unity, and renewed commitment to Islamic values.

In a New Year message jointly signed by its President, Hon. Muhammed Bello Oyinlomo Danmole, and Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Jubril Folami, the community expressed gratitude to Allah for the gift of life and the privilege of witnessing another Hijrah year.

“Alhamdulillāh for the gift of life and the opportunity to witness the beginning of a new Hijrah year: 1447 AH,” the message stated.

The Muslim Community used the occasion to remind the Ummah of the profound historical and spiritual significance of the Hijrah – the migration of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his companions in pursuit of religious freedom and the preservation of Islam.

“The Hijrah reminds us of the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering faith of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his companions as they migrated for the sake of preserving their religion. It is a time for reflection, renewal of faith, and a recommitment to living by the principles of Islam: justice, compassion, truthfulness, and unity,” the message read.

Calling on Muslims to begin the new year with purified intentions and sincere efforts toward building stronger communities, the leadership encouraged peaceful coexistence and positive contributions to society.

“As we begin this new year, let us purify our intentions, strengthen our bonds of brotherhood, uphold peace, and contribute positively to our communities,” they said.

The statement concluded with prayers for divine guidance and mercy upon Lagos State, its leaders, and the global Muslim community. “We also pray for continued guidance, protection, and mercy from Allah (SWT) upon our state, our leaders, our families, and the entire Ummah.”

“May 1447 AH be a year of peace, prosperity, progress, and spiritual elevation for us all. Āmīn. Hijrah Mubārak!” the message concluded.
