It was a day of vision, motivation, and possibilities at Lagos State Junior Model College (LSJMC), Igbonla, as students gathered for an engaging Career Day themed “Exploring Futures, Inspiring Possibilities.”

The event, hosted by the school’s Principal and Director of Education, Mr. Adekunle John Babatunde, brought together a wide array of professionals to help broaden the career outlook of students and fuel their aspirations.

In his welcome address, Mr. Adekunle expressed joy at the significance of the occasion, describing it as more than just a school event but an opportunity for transformation and inspiration.

“It is with great joy that I welcome you all to our Careers Day here at Lagos State Model Junior College, Igbonla. Today is a special day — a day designed to inspire, inform and ignite the passion of our students as they begin to dream boldly about their futures,” he said.

Acknowledging the presence of professionals from diverse fields — including medicine, law, engineering, business, tech, and the arts — he emphasized the impact their stories would have on the students.

“We are honored to have among us distinguished professionals from various fields who have taken time out of their busy schedules to share their journeys and wisdom with us,” he added.

Mr. Adekunle encouraged students to seize the opportunity to learn from the experiences being shared: “Today, our students will hear from doctors, engineers, lawyers, tech innovators, creatives, entrepreneurs and many others — all here to guide and inspire the next generation of leaders… You may not have all the answers now and that’s okay. This event is here to help you discover possibilities… No dream is too big and no career is beyond your reach if you are determined, disciplined and willing to learn.”

He also expressed deep appreciation to the guest speakers and school staff: “To our invited guests: we sincerely appreciate your time and presence. Your stories and advice will surely spark something meaningful in the minds of our young people… To our teachers and staff: thank you for your continued dedication and for organizing this important event.”

The keynote address, delivered by Mr. Kazeem Yusuf on behalf of High Chief Wasiu Olaomopo, urged the students to pursue their ambitions with courage and determination.

“You must embrace your ambitions with courage and clarity,” he advised, drawing from his own personal and professional journey.

Throughout the day, students listened to speakers from fields such as law, medicine, education, and technology, who shared practical advice and inspiring narratives. Each professional stressed the importance of preparation, adaptability, values, and a lifelong learning mindset in navigating today’s dynamic career landscape.

Distinguished guests in attendance included Mrs. Adefuye Adenike (representative of the TG/PS, Education District III), Mr. Akinrinmade S.G (Rtr Director of Education), and Mr. Balogun R.A. (Rtr Director of Education and former Principal of LSJMC). They lauded the event’s significance in shaping young minds.

The students left not just informed but inspired — ready to explore the endless career possibilities ahead of them, empowered by the belief that their dreams are within reach.
