FAKHTAH: A dove of healing finds its voice

Mrs. Okeowo-Bombata

* Family Therapist Okeowo-Bombata unveils  peace-driven book to spread emotional wellness

On Sunday, July 20, 2025, family therapist and marital counsellor Hajia Bushrah Okeowo-Bombata, affectionately known as Mrs Bomb, held the second edition of her transformative relationship seminar, Single & Secure, and launched her new book Fakhtah – a powerful literary work focused on healing, trauma, and love.

The event, held in grand style, attracted several notable personalities, professional colleagues, and family members who gathered to support the author’s vision. Guests and organisations at the occasion donated generously to encourage her continued work in strengthening families and emotional wellness.

“I feel So fulfilled” – A dream realised

In an emotional interview, Hajia Bombata reflected on the journey of writing the 165-page book, describing it as a deeply personal project driven by a life-long passion for healing and support.

“I feel so fulfilled to have accomplished this goal. It has been my dream to spread support across the globe. Supporting people has always been important to me. I want to reach people even beyond my immediate space. That’s why I thought: let me put my experience and support in a book that can travel farther than me,” she shared.

She explained the title Fakhtah, which means “dove” or “peace” in Arabic, represents hope after chaos.

“When we look at the menace in society – the chaos, the unhappiness, the challenges – they often stem from the home. If the home is not well taken care of, it extends to society. So, I felt I could extend my experience into this. Most of our societal issues are rooted in unresolved trauma or generational baggage,” she said.

“Fakhtah came as a tool to help broken people, people who want better relationships, or those who want to see themselves in the mirror of society. For me, Fakhtah means peace at last after much chaos.”

A Journey of Three Years

Hajia Bombata began writing Fakhtah in 2022. However, balancing her work, family, and writing proved challenging.

“Sometimes, I got tired and dropped it. I didn’t want to write a boring book; I wanted it to be a story anyone can pick up, read, enjoy, and still get the message,” she said, while speaking with Muslim News.

“Finding the right words was hard. I had to write at odd hours, sometimes at midnight, and always had to cross-check for clarity. I didn’t want it to be too ambiguous – I wanted it simple and relatable.”

She described the book as a blend of personal and professional experiences, crafted to resonate with anyone seeking emotional growth and relational healing.

From finance to family healing

Despite starting her academic journey in Banking and Finance, Hajia Okeowo-Bombata found her calling in therapy and counselling – a path she’s walked for nearly a decade.

At the book launch

“Jumping on this career is something I’m really happy about. It’s not just rewarding by Allah, it also helps society,” she said.

“Every day, people reach out to me – some cry about their marriages, some are suicidal. My core is pre-marital counselling because I believe if people are prepared before marriage, they’ll do better in it. We may not help everyone already in troubled marriages, but we can prepare those about to start.”

Countless lives touched

Over the years, she has worked with organisations both home and abroad, supporting thousands of individuals and couples through Heart Hub Solutions, her counselling platform.

“We’ve had many success stories. People say things like, ‘Thank God I came for premarital counselling – if not, I would have married the wrong person’,” she shared.

“It hasn’t always been smooth. Some clients take longer, some abandon sessions, and some come back. But we keep learning and upgrading. I’ve been training, re-training, and upskilling so I can serve the community better.”

Her dream is to expand her services, including launching a community specifically for men – an initiative people have long requested.

“I already run a community for young adults. Now, I’m hoping to collaborate with male professionals to create a safe space for men too. We’re also planning a marital seminar, just like the one for singles, and we pray Allah blesses it,” she added.

Unveiling the book

Bombata has grown into a beacon of hope for families – Mentor

Dr. Sulaimon Ogunmuyiwa, a senior partner at M Consulting Solution International and mentor to Okeowo-Bombata, was present at the event and beamed with pride.

“I really feel elated and proud of myself. I met Mrs Bomb when she knew nothing about counselling. Today, she’s making a mark in the profession. I’m happy for her. The sky is her limit. She has all it takes to guide people toward happy married lives,” he said.

“She’s a peace-loving woman” – Husband Speaks

Mr. Qudus Oluwafemi Bombata, husband to the author and convener of the Single & Secure seminar, praised his wife’s resilience and dedication.

“She has been working tirelessly to make today a reality. She’s very focused on giving back to humanity, and she has exhibited that as a mother and a professional,” he said.

Arrival with husband

Reflecting on the book-writing journey, he acknowledged the demands it placed on their family life but affirmed her ability to manage both.

“Her professional and home duties don’t clash. The book reflects her experiences in marriage and with clients. Communication has always helped us. We hardly sleep over our issues, and that habit has really helped our marriage. She’s a peace-loving person.”

Looking Ahead

The event concluded on a high note with excitement about future projects from Heart Hub Solutions and the growing community of individuals inspired by Fakhtah. The book is now available in select bookstores and online platforms, and there are plans to take Single & Secure to more cities across Nigeria and beyond.
