The University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA) says Imam Nojeem Jimoh’s extensive leadership and industry experience is a valuable asset for steering The Companion in the next two years.
UMA made the statement in a congratulatory message issued by its National President, Dr. Mumini Alao, to celebrate the emergence of Imam Nojeem Jimoh as the new National Amir (President) of The Companion, a leading network of Muslim professionals and businessmen in Nigeria.
Imam Jimoh is an alumnus of the University of Lagos and a proud member of the UNILAG Muslim Alumni (UMA).
He was elected following a three-day national conference of The Companion in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
“His wealth of leadership and industry experience will be invaluable in steering The Companion over the next two years,” according to the statement by UMA President.
Dr. Alao described Imam Jimoh as a leader of integrity, wisdom, and service, while hailing his extensive contributions to the Muslim community in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
“These include his tenure as former President of the Islamic Awareness Forum (London), his role as Chief Imam of the Lighthouse Muslim Community in Lekki, and his service on the Da’wah Committee of the Lekki Central Mosque
(LEMU).”
UMA also noted his prior position as National Naibul-Amir of The
Companion, his professional career as a retired oil and gas executive, his tenure as Chief Operating Officer of Taurus Oil & Gas Ltd., and his current role as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the African Housing Professionals Association.
“A proud First-Class graduate in Political Science (1986) and Master’s degree holder (1988) from the University of Lagos, Imam Jimoh is also the current Chairman of UMA’s Da’wah Committee that is charged with educating Alumni members and Muslims at large about the tenets of Islam,” the statement read.
Dr. Alao said Imam Jimoh is a shining example of UNILAG’s enduring legacy in producing leaders who inspire change globally.
