Muslim News Nigeria was launched in August 2018, founded by Rasheed Abubakar, a noted author and columnist with The Daily Independent in Lagos. It was created in response to misrepresentation of Islam and perceived under-reporting of Muslim-related stories in Nigeria and globally, such as the needles hijab discrimination, particularly involving Barrister Firdausa Amasa.
