The former Chairman of the Governing Board of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Hon. Dr. Abdul Hakeem Abdul Lateef, has paid glowing tributes to his four wives, describing them as the secret behind his strength and accomplishments.
He made the remarks on Saturday, November 1, 2025 during the grand finale of the 30th anniversary celebration of Al-Faruq Schools — a faith-based institution he founded in 1995 in Iyana Ejigbo, Lagos.
Muslim News gathered that the school offers nursery, primary, and secondary education, integrating a robust Western curriculum with strong Islamic values.
The ceremony was attended by staff, students, alumni, and distinguished guests from across Lagos. The warm atmosphere underscored the deep sense of community the school has cultivated over three decades of operation.

In an emotional speech monitored by Muslim News on his verified Facebook page, Dr. Abdul Lateef praised his wives for their unity, support and commitment, attributing much of his success in life to their efforts.
The caring husband highlighted the vital contributions of each of his wives to his personal journey and the school’s growth, calling their support “the secret of my strength and accomplishments”.
The former Commissioner of Home Affairs in Lagos said their combined dedication and sacrifices have given him the confidence to pursue his mission of blending Western and Islamic education at the institution.
Beginning with his first wife, Hajia Shukrah Adefunmilayo Alagabi, who also serves as the Proprietress of the school, he said: “There is no Al-Faruq without you. You were in charge from the very beginning. You were at the driver’s seat. I only bore the title ‘Proprietor’.

“You are indeed the Proprietress. You’re a woman of elegance, with a keen taste for decency, honesty, trustworthiness, and hard work. May Allah reward you, and may you continue to excel. You’re a leader in my house. May you continue to reign,” he said.
He then turned to his second wife, Hajia Balqis Olaide Abdul-Hameed, describing her as “a woman of uncommon character who has taken leadership roles in various spheres of life. When you hear people say ‘Hon. Abdul-Hakeem’, she is one of the pillars behind that name.”

On his third wife, Hajia Mojisola Salmah, he acknowledged her legacy and character, calling her “a scion of Odebunmi, a woman of great integrity. Thank you for your sincerity, honesty, and support.”
He rounded off with his fourth wife, Hajia Islamiyya Adeola Raji, praising her deep commitment. According to him, “She is an extraordinary woman, honest and sincerely devoted to every assignment given by her husband.”

Dr. Abdul Lateef emphasised the unity among his wives as the foundation of his success. “Their unity in my life and the lives of our children is why I can run around so freely. I run recklessly and carelessly because I have people who are careful, determined and committed to my success. May Allah reward the four of you.”
