MUSWEN appoints Prof. Wole Abbas as new Executive Secretary, strengthens unity among Southwest Muslims

The Central Working Committee (CWC) of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) has approved the appointment of Professor Wole Abdullateef Abbas as the new Executive Secretary of the organisation.

The announcement was made by MUSWEN President, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, during his welcome address at the 10th General Assembly held on Sunday, November 16 at Bola Babalakin Auditorium, Gbongan, Osun State.

According to Alhaji Oladejo, Prof. Abbas will take over from the outgoing Executive Secretary, Professor Muslih Tayo Yahya, FAR, FASN, who is set to complete his six-year tenure at the end of the month.

“I want to thank Prof. Yahya on your behalf for his meritorious service to MUSWEN and wish him success in his future endeavours,” Alhaji Oladejo said, adding that a send-forth event is being planned in his honour.

Alhaji Oladejo described the scribe of the Southwest Muslim Ummah as a familiar and committed figure in the organisation since its formative years.

“Prof Abbas is the immediate past Head of the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of Ibadan. On your behalf, I welcome Prof Abbas and wish him a successful tenure,” he noted

Alhaji Oladejo also extended deep appreciation to stakeholders who have supported MUSWEN, including state council members, standing and general-purpose committees, and the Central Working Committee.

He acknowledged the outgoing Executive Secretary, Prof. Muslih Yahya, for his dedication, as well as the Planning Committee of the 10th General Assembly led by Alhaji Murisiku Siyanbade for their efforts in organising the confab

Prof. Abbas’ appointment marks a new chapter in MUSWEN’s leadership, as the organisation continues to play a unifying role among Muslims in the Southwest region.
