The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) is mourning the death of Professor Abdulganiy Olayinka Raji, Chairman of its Secretariat Advisory Committee, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, December 19, 2025, at his residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
In a joint statement, MUSWEN President, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, and Executive Secretary, Professor Wole Abbas, described Prof. Raji as a devout Muslim, an accomplished academic, and a distinguished public servant.
Until his death, he was a Professor of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering at the University of Ibadan and a former INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ekiti, Ogun, and Osun States.
“His demise is a great loss to the Ummah. He consistently used his intellect, time, and resources in the service of Allah and humanity,” MUSWEN stated, praying Allah grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus.
According to the family, Janazah prayers will be held on Saturday, December 20, at 11 a.m. at Ogbomoso Central Mosque, Oja’agbo, followed by burial at a Muslim cemetery in Ogbomoso.
He is survived by his wife, children, and extended family. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and reward his good deeds with Al-Jannah Firdaus.
