* Sets stage to host thousands of delegates at 32nd National Islamic Training Programme in Ogun State
As Nigeria once again enters the Christmas and New Year season marked by multiple public holidays, The Muslim Congress (TMC) has reiterated why Muslim organisations traditionally fix their major spiritual and capacity-building camping programmes within this period.
According to TMC, the Christmas and New Year holidays provide one of the few extended windows in the Nigerian calendar when working adults, professionals, artisans, and students can conveniently disengage from routine obligations to focus on spiritual rejuvenation, personal development, and community building.
TMC explained that the yuletide naturally offers clusters of public holidays, including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year celebrations, which many Muslim organisations have strategically leveraged over the years to organise intensive Islamic training programmes without disrupting work schedules or economic productivity.
This practice, the organisation noted, mirrors global practice where faith-based groups maximise officially recognised holidays to strengthen capacity, deepen spirituality, and foster social cohesion.
Unequal Holiday Recognition and the Need for Strategic Adaptation
TMC further observed that, except for a few states, the Federal Government and most state governments in Nigeria have consistently not declared Muharram 1st—the Islamic New Year recognised by Muslims worldwide—as a public holiday. This, according to the organisation, has compelled Muslim bodies to adapt by utilising already available national holidays to meet their spiritual and educational needs.
“In the absence of institutional recognition for major Islamic milestones like the Islamic New Year, Muslim organisations have had to be strategic in maximising available free periods to build capacity, reform character, and reposition the Ummah,” TMC stated.
The organisation stressed that fixing camping programmes during the yuletide is not an imitation of other faith traditions but a pragmatic response to Nigeria’s public holiday structure, ensuring Muslims are not excluded from opportunities for rest, renewal, and growth.
32nd National Islamic Training Programme Holds Nationwide
Against this backdrop, The Muslim Congress (TMC) is set to host thousands of delegates at the 32nd edition of its National Islamic Training Programme (NITP), scheduled to hold from Wednesday, 24th to Sunday, 28th December, 2025.
The event is part of its annual spiritual and capacity-building camping programme for Muslims across Nigeria.
For the South West Zone 1, the programme will hold in Ogun State at Vanguards Academy, along Ijebu–Epe Expressway, Odosengolu, and will host Muslim professionals, artisans, entrepreneurs, scholars, and community leaders seeking spiritual rejuvenation, moral clarity, and practical guidance for navigating contemporary life.
With the theme “Guidance and Direction for Today’s Muslims,” the 2025 NITP is designed to respond to the realities confronting Muslims who are striving to balance faith, work, family responsibilities, and ethical conduct in an increasingly demanding environment.
Addressing Real-Life Challenges Facing Muslims
The organisers explained that many Muslims today struggle with prioritising acts of worship such as prayer, fasting, charity, and sacrifice amid the pressure to generate income and survive economically.
Others experience spiritual dryness and disconnection, whether in the midst of material success or financial hardship.
A growing number also face difficulties managing time between work, family life, and devotion to Allah, often resulting in burnout, confusion, and loss of inspiration for righteous living.
The 32nd NITP has been carefully structured to provide practical Qur’an- and Sunnah-based solutions to these challenges, helping participants regain clarity, strengthen their iman, and adopt productive lifestyles that align worldly pursuits with eternal accountability.
Rich Programme of Spiritual, Intellectual and Professional Development
Participants will undergo five days of immersive learning and spiritual engagement, beginning daily with Qiyaamu’l-Layl, adhkaar, and structured worship, followed by lectures on purification of the soul, Islamic law, family values, youth and education, peaceful coexistence, and ethical neighbourliness in Islam.
The programme also includes a special health-focused session addressing the prevention and management of depression, stroke, and cancer, as a response to the growing intersection between spiritual wellbeing and physical health.
In line with contemporary realities, the 2025 NITP features a Professional Symposium designed to help Muslim professionals gain visibility, clarity, and strategic positioning in their careers, alongside an Artisan Symposium focused on the acquisition and application of modern technology for today’s artisans.
Expanded sporting and networking activities have also been incorporated to promote holistic wellbeing and brotherhood.
A major highlight of the programme is the Fiqh Session on “Jurisprudence of Sale: Prohibited Transactions,” to be delivered on Saturday, 27th December, 2025, by Sheikh Dhikirullahi Shafii, Grand Mufti of the Conference of Islamic Organisations (CIO).
The camp will culminate in the 2025 Annual National Congress (ANC) of The Muslim Congress, which will feature reports, lectures, awards, inauguration of new chapters, constitutional updates, and the official launch of TMC’s digital portal and automated processes.
Message from the Amir of The Muslim Congress
In a goodwill message ahead of the programme, the Amir of The Muslim Congress, Alhaji AbdulWasi’i Bangbala, described the 32nd NITP as a deliberate investment in the spiritual, personal, and professional growth of Muslims.
Alhaji Bangbala acknowledged the economic sacrifices made by delegates who have registered and assured participants that the programme has been intentionally designed to deliver immense value through experienced facilitators, practical sessions, supportive networks, and an environment that inspires confidence, connection, and clarity.
He said the 2025 NITP will not only uplift the soul and reignite Iman but also sharpen perspectives, refine skills, and energise participants for greater impact in their various fields.
