Thousands of Muslim students from across Lagos State have converged at the Human Capital Development Centre, Noforija, Epe, for the 115th edition of the Islamic Vacation Course (IVC), organised by the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Lagos State Area Unit.
The annual spiritual and educational camping programme began on Thursday, December 25, 2025, and is scheduled to run through Thursday, January 1, 2026 (5th to 12th Rajab, 1447 AH).
This year’s IVC, themed “Global Realities; Eternal Values”, aims to provide Islamic learning, mentorship, and spiritual growth for students and young Muslims.
Muslim News Nigeria gathered that activities on Day 2 featured various sessions including morning classes, mu’ayyashah (interactive forums), and a special Jumu’ah prayer led by guest Imam, Barr. Abdur-Rasheed Attah.
In his sermon, Imam Attah emphasized the importance of ubudiyyah (servitude) in a Muslim’s life, describing it as the essence of godliness.
“Servitude is godliness,” he said, adding, “A Muslim must serve Allah wholeheartedly, without compromise or hesitation. True servitude is reflected in our thoughts, speech, and actions.”
He, however, acknowledged that sincere servitude is increasingly challenged in the modern world.
“Anyone who chooses to be truly submissive to Allah will face many tests,” he noted.
“Modernisation, the struggle to meet daily needs, and societal pressures are among the obstacles that can hinder our commitment.”
Imam Attah urged Muslims to remain steadfast and rise above these challenges in order to remain firmly on the path of Allah.
In the evening session, the Grand Mufti of Conference of Islamic Organisations, CIO, Sheikh Dhikrullah Shafi’i delivered a thought-provoking lecture on “Muslim Youths and Social Vices”, stressing that youths are at the centre of many of today’s societal challenges.
His impactful presentation, which explored root causes and offered faith-based solutions, will be detailed in a separate report.

In an interview, the Amir of MSSN Lagos, Malam Kamoldeen Abiona, welcomed delegates comprising secondary school students, higher institution students, and other categories of participants to this year’s training programme.
He assured them of a spiritually enriching, intellectually stimulating, and well-organised camping experience.
Mal Abiona noted that all necessary arrangements had been made to ensure the comfort, safety, and active engagement of every participant throughout the programme.
Naibul Amir unveils Qur’an focus, highlights unity, faith and moral responsibility
Also speaking, the Naibul Amir of the Muslim students body, Ustadh Muktar Oyetunji stated that the memorisation focus for this year’s IVC is Qur’an Chapter 3, verses 102 to 110.
He noted that by the end of the camp, delegates are expected to not only memorise the verses but also understand and reflect on their key lessons, which include the importance of unity, steadfastness in faith, the need to hold firmly to the rope of Allah, and the responsibility of the Muslim Ummah to uphold good and forbid evil.
The IVC features a wide range of activities, including soul-inspiring lectures, interactive workshops, Qur’an Memorisation, seminars, and classroom sessions tailored for secondary school students, undergraduates, and other young Muslims.
The Islamic Vacation Course is one of the flagship programmes of MSSN aimed at nurturing Muslim youths in knowledge, character, and leadership in line with Islamic values.
