The Muslim Congress (TMC) has returned its National Amir, Alhaji Abdulwasi‘i Taiwo Bangbala, and Secretary General, Alhaji Adesina Taiwo Hassan, for a second term of five years through a Shūrā (consultative) process, in line with the provisions of the organisation’s constitution.
The decision was taken on Saturday, December 28, 2025, at the 32nd Annual National Congress of The Muslim Congress, held at Vanguards Academy, Odosengolu, Ogun State, following extensive consultations across the organisation.
Muslim News gathered that the return of the duo reflects the confidence of members and stakeholders in their leadership capacity and commitment to Islamic principles of collective decision-making, with their renewed mandate taking immediate effect.
In addition to the ratification of the National Amir and Secretary General, the Congress also affirmed the TMC National Executives’ Cabinet and approved the appointment of State Executive Officers across several states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots administration, coordination and da‘wah activities nationwide.
Confirms appointment of Wali, Secretaries across Nigeria
The Congress also confirmed state leadership across the federation. In Lagos State, Mallam Tajudeen Olusesi was re-appointed as Wali, with Mallam Muilli Igbalajobi as Secretary. Ogun State has Dr. Jamiu Folarin as Wali and Dr. Sulaiman Adebisi as Secretary, while in Oyo State, Mallam Idris Muhammad emerged as Wali, with Mallam Daud Soliu serving as Secretary.
In Edo State, Alhaji Mutairu Ismail Kashimawo was appointed Wali, alongside Barrister Al-Hassan Abu as Secretary. Osun State has Mallam Iyiola Oyedeji as Wali and Mallam Ismail Adeleke as Secretary, while Kwara State appointed Dr. Sulaiman Zakariyah as Wali, with Mallam Abdul-Lateef Onafuye as Secretary.
Similarly, Mallam Abdul-Majeed Adebayo emerged as Wali in Ondo State, with Mallam Taofeek Olutayo as Secretary. In the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Engr. Monsuru Adewale was appointed Wali, alongside Engr. Abdul-Sobru Oliyide as Secretary, while Niger State has Dr. Saheed Sanni as Wali, with Mallam Muyideen Abdul-Raheem serving as Secretary. 
Stakeholders urge members to embrace sacrifice, purposeful leadership
Speaking at the congress, the former and first Amir of TMC, Alhaji AbdusSalam AbdulRazaq Awayewaserere, reminded members that meaningful growth in membership requires commitment, sacrifice and purposeful engagement.
He stressed that laziness has no place in the pursuit of progress, urging members to remain prepared, determined and steadfast, while placing full trust in Allah and confidence in their God-given abilities.
Also contributing, Engr. Anifowoshe challenged members to engage in deep self-reflection, asking, “What account will I give when the time comes?” He emphasised that leadership and membership are not defined by titles or mere presence, but by tangible contributions and lasting impact.
According to him, history ultimately judges leaders by how they utilise the opportunities entrusted to them. He described the congress as a turning point, noting that current leaders, like those before them, will eventually become part of history. He therefore urged members to learn from past mistakes and recommit themselves to purposeful service and responsible leadership.

In his acceptance speech, the re-elected Amir of The Muslim Congress (TMC), Alhaji Bangbala expressed profound gratitude to Allah (SWT), the Congress and its members for the renewed confidence reposed in his leadership.
He reaffirmed his commitment to steering the organisation with integrity, dedication and strict adherence to Islamic principles.
According to him, “I humbly accept this renewed mandate and pledge to work tirelessly with my executive team, state officers and all members to strengthen The Muslim Congress at every level.
“We must continue to uphold justice, promote knowledge and ensure that our collective efforts contribute to the growth, unity and positive impact of the organisation in our communities and the nation at large.” 
He called on members to remain committed and diligent in advancing the objectives of the Congress, urging unity of purpose and collective responsibility.
The leadership of The Muslim Congress also appealed to members nationwide to extend maximum cooperation to the re-elected national executives and newly appointed state officers in advancing the mission of the organisation in line with Islamic values and principles.
