* At launch of Yusuf Adeyemi’s book, Between Two Gowns: Towards a Successful Campus Life in Nigeria

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Professor Shittu Morufudeen Adeniyi, has urged Nigerian undergraduates to pursue their education with purpose, discipline, and a strong sense of moral responsibility, stressing that academic achievement must translate into national development.

Professor Adeniyi made the call on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the virtual launch of Between Two Gowns: Towards a Successful Campus Life as an Undergraduate in Nigeria, a new book by education advocate Yusuf Adeniyi Adeyemi, which he described as a powerful and practical guide for students.

The programme, themed “From Matriculation to Convocation,” brought together students, educators, and thought leaders from across Nigeria and the diaspora.

Organised by Classic Educational Consult, the book offers practical guidance on navigating university life, emphasising discipline, purposeful choices, and long-term planning from entry to graduation.

In his address, Professor Adeniyi described education as a powerful tool for personal growth and societal transformation, urging students to look beyond certificates and focus on character building, service, and impact.

The don noted that Nigeria’s future depends largely on how today’s undergraduates utilise their years on campus.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Sulaimon Muse who chaired the occasion, described the book as “a timely intervention for the 21st-century student seeking balance between ambition and discipline.”

Delivering the keynote address from London, Prof. Olubusayo Asikhia Director of LASUED Centre for Guidance and Counselling, praised the author’s style, calling the book “a must-read for every Nigerian student stepping into university life.”
