Nikaah: Build your marriage on fear of Allah, Sheikh Salman urges couples as Habeebullah, Sofiyyah wed in Lagos

The Al-Bayaan Central Mosque in Ikotun, Lagos, was filled with joy on Sunday, December 28, 2025, as family members, friends, and guests from within and outside Lagos gathered to witness the wedding of Alhaji Habeebullah Adewole Akorede and Sofiyyah Adesola Oladimeji.

Muslim News reports that the groom, Alhaji Habeebullah Akorede, is a former cabinet member of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Lagos State Area Unit.

He studied Physics at Lagos State University (LASU) and later completed his postgraduate studies at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. He is the son of Alhaji Lukman Dan Azeez Akorede, Chairman of DanAzeez Concept Umrah and Hajj Services, Lagos.

The bride, Sofiyyah Adesola Oladimeji, studied Islamic Studies at LASU and holds a Master’s degree from Crescent University. She is a daughter of Alhaji Moroof Oladimeji Agbabiaka of Lagos.

The nikkah was led by Sheikh Saheed Salman, Deputy Registrar of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), and was conducted in line with Islamic rules, with all requirements properly met.

While addressing the couple, Sheikh Saheed Salman advised them to build their marriage on fear of Allah, patience, sacrifice, and kindness. He reminded them that love alone may not be enough when challenges arise in marriage.

Many scholars and community leaders attended the ceremony, including Sheikh Abdullah Lawal Olohungbomeje Al-Edewiy, Prof. Abdulkabir Paramole, former Head of the Religious Studies Department at LASU; Sheikh Muntaqoh Abimbade Zuglool (UK); Sheikh Kamaldeen Abu Kamal (Abidjan); Dr. Mikhail Sanni; Dr. Ibrahim Salaudeen (Al-Bayaan); Imam Sulaiman Giwa; and Alhaji Chief Teliat Olomu, Chairman of NURTW, Bariga.

The event ended with prayers for peace, love, and a happy married life for the couple.
