The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Lagos State Area Unit, has urged Muslims to sustain the spiritual gains of Ramadan beyond the holy month, saying that the essence of fasting lies in building lasting character and righteousness.
In a press statement signed by its Amir, Mal. Kamoldeen Abiona, the students’ body congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the 30-day fast and the celebration of Eid el-Fitr.
“All praise is due to Allah who granted us the grace to witness and complete the blessed month of Ramadan,” the statement read, adding, “We heartily congratulate Muslims, particularly Muslim students in Lagos State, across Nigeria, and around the world, and we pray that Allah accepts our acts of worship and rewards us abundantly.”
The society stressed that Ramadan is not merely a period of abstinence, but a time for building enduring virtues such as taqwa, patience, discipline, compassion, and self-restraint.
It urged Muslims to uphold these values in their daily lives by promoting unity, kindness, and peaceful coexistence.
MSSN Lagos also expressed condolences to victims of the recent Maiduguri bombing, praying for the repose of the deceased and comfort for their families. It called on both state and federal governments to intensify efforts to tackle insecurity and prevent future tragedies.
On global developments, the organisation condemned what it described as a “so-called preemptive attack” by the United States on Iran, noting that such actions undermine global peace.
It called on world leaders and international bodies to ensure respect for international agreements and accountability.
The group further raised concerns over continued violence in Gaza despite ceasefire claims, urging all parties to act with sincerity and ensure a complete halt to ongoing strikes.
As Nigeria approaches another electoral cycle, MSSN Lagos cautioned political actors against making the process a do-or-die affair. It advocated peaceful campaigns and credible elections, while urging leaders to reflect the compassion taught during Ramadan by prioritising the welfare of the masses.
The statement concluded with prayers for peace, unity, and prosperity in Lagos State, Nigeria, and across the world.
“May Allah guide our leaders, unite our people, and grant us a society founded on justice, peace, and prosperity,” it added.
