The Muslim Congress (TMC) has intensified efforts to expand its outreach and promote Islamic teachings with a town hall meeting held in Igbeti, Olorunsogo Local Government Area.
The programme, tagged “Igbeti Connect,” took place at the Igbeti Central Mosque on Sunday, March 29, 2026, attracting the Onigbeti of Igbetiland, high chiefs, Islamic scholars, political office holders, and other prominent members of the community.
Speaking at the event, the Onigbeti of Igbetiland, Oba Bashir Olalekan Abioye Siyanbola IV, urged residents to support and join the organisation, describing it as credible and transparent in its activities.
He also called on traditional rulers across the South-West to promote peaceful coexistence by collaborating with religious leaders, highlighting the importance of partnership in community leadership.
In his welcome address, the State Coordinator of TMC, Ustadh Idris Muhammad, said the organisation, founded in April 1994, remains committed to societal reformation in line with the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah.
He added that the group provides platforms for education, collaboration, and development within the Muslim community.
The Chief Imam of Igbetiland, Sheikh Abubakar Aqib Olawoore, expressed optimism about TMC’s presence in the area, noting that its programmes would positively impact societal development.
He also disclosed that residents are looking forward to a three-day outreach programme, “Khuruj fii sabilillah,” scheduled for August, which will feature free medical services, fitness activities, and other community-based initiatives.
Delivering a lecture, Ustadh Abdur Rasheed Mahmoud Arogundade emphasised the importance of propagating Islamic teachings as a core responsibility of Muslims, assuring residents of the benefits of TMC’s presence.
The Leader of the Legislative House in Olorunsogo Local Government, Honourable Afees Adewale, pledged support for the organisation, noting that structured Islamic groups like TMC play a vital role in community development.
Other dignitaries at the event included the Executive Chairman of Olorunsogo Local Government, Honourable Qazeem Olayanju; the Leader of the Legislative House in Ibadan North-East Local Government, Honourable Adekola Abdulmajeed; as well as leaders and members of other Islamic organisations.
