The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) has expressed profound gratitude to Allah for the long and impactful life of Princess (Alhaja) Rafatu Ademinure Awofisayo, the Iya Adinni of Ifeland, who passed away at the age of 102.

In a statement jointly signed by its President, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, and the Executive Secretary, Prof. Wole Abbas, the group described her death as the end of a glorious era marked by faith, service, and unwavering commitment to the Muslim community.

According to MUSWEN, the late princess, a centenarian and the last surviving child of the 48th Alayeluwa Ademiluyi Ajagun, stood as a beacon of resilience and devotion to Islam.

The organisation noted that her role as Iya Adinni of Ifeland went beyond a ceremonial title, reflecting a lifetime dedicated to the propagation of Islam and the advancement of the Muslim Ummah in Ile-Ife and across the South West.

The statement further highlighted her service as Matron of the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), Ife Central Mosque, where she remained a source of wisdom, guidance, and leadership until her passing.

“MUSWEN recognises her immense contributions to Islamic education and her role in fostering religious harmony within her community. Her life served as a bridge between tradition and faith, demonstrating how royalty and religious devotion can coexist to uplift society,” the statement read.

Describing her as a pillar of strength, the organization said her death is a significant loss to the Nigerian Muslim Ummah, while urging believers to take solace in her legacy of service to Allah and humanity.

MUSWEN extended its condolences to her family, the Ooni of Ife, the Muslim community of Ifeland, and the government and people of Osun State.
The organisation also prayed that Almighty Allah grants her Al-Jannah Firdaus and gives her loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
