BREAKING | Shawwal moon not sighted as Saudi Arabia declares Thursday EidElFitr

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday said that the Shawwal moon has not been sighted. Therefore, Wednesday, May 12, will be the last day of the holy month of Ramadan, and the first day of Eid El Fitr will be on Thursday, May 13.

The news was confirmed in a series of tweets made by Haramain Sharifain on all its social media handles.

“The Crescent for the month of Shawwal 1442 was NOT SEEN today, subsequently #EidUlFitr will be on Thursday, 13 May 2021, the official media partner of the two holy mosques, Makkah and Madinah, posted on Facebook, around 4: 40pm (Nigerian time).

Muslim News findings revealed that the news from Saudi Arabia concerning the moon sighting doesn’t directly affect Muslim faithful in Nigeria, who have been directed by their leader, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad III to search for the new crescent of Shawwal on Tuesday evening, Ramadan 29, 1442 AH, which corresponds to May 11, 2021.
