President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the conferment of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) as national honours on the Registrar of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Prof Is-haq Oloyede.
Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume, announced this in a letter he conveyed to the JAMB Registrar.
Oloyede, who also doubles as the Secretary General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, is among the 437 nominated by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration for the 2022 national honours award.
Muslim News reliably gathered that this year’s list has five recipients for the honour of GCON, 54 for CFR, CON 67, OFR 64, OON 101, MFR 75, MON 56, and FRM 8.
The JAMB registrar who is an ambassador of Islam will be conferred by President Buhari alongside others on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, in Abuja.
Some of the awardees include the President of the Senate, Sen. Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan (GCON); Speaker of the House of Representatives, 1 Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila (CFR); Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum (CON); Vice Chancellor, Gombe State University, Prof. Aliyu Usman El-Nafaty (OFR ); Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Dr. Muiz Banire, (OON) and Imam Abdullahi Abubakar, the Imam who hid over 262 Christians in his mosque from attacks in Yelwa Gindi Akwati village Plateau (MON), among others.
