BREAKING: Tinubu signs bill returning old national anthem into law

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the bill seeking to reintroduce the old national anthem into law.

Godswill Akpabio, senate president, announced this at the joint sitting of the senate and house of representatives on Wednesday.

Akpabio said the president signed the bill into law on Wednesday morning.

The senate president also said Tinubu will flag off the recital of the old national anthem during a joint sitting of the national assembly today.

This is coming less than a week after the House of Representatives’ passed the same bill last Thursday.

The old anthem was replaced in 1978 with the current one, “Arise O Compatriots.”
