Ambassador Yousef Albalawi with Ambassador Wahab Akande

His Excellency Mr. Yousef bin Mohammed AlBalawi has officially assumed his role as Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muslim News reports.

He began his mission with a commitment to strengthening the Kingdom’s partnership with Nigeria across trade, education, religious cooperation, and bilateral relations.

Ambassador AlBalawi succeeds Ambassador Faisal bin Ebraheem Alghamdi, who served from at least 2021 through late 2024.

During his tenure, Alghamdi focused on facilitating Hajj operations for Nigerian pilgrims, promoting trade exceeding $600 million, and expanding educational scholarships for Nigerian students.

On Tuesday, February 17, Ambassador AlBalawi presented a copy of his letters of credence to His Excellency Ambassador Wahab Akande, Chief of Protocol at the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, in line with diplomatic protocol.

The Chief of Protocol welcomed him and wished him success in his official duties.

The news was posted on the Embassy’s verified X handle on Tuesday, February 17.
