* APC candidate pledges quality legislative support for good governance
The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Ifelodun/Oyun/Offa Federal Constituency, Dr Rafiu Ajakaye, says his seven years in public service have adequately prepared him to provide effective representation and quality legislative support for good governance if elected in the 2027 general election.
Dr. Ajakaye stated this while speaking with journalists after the APC’s appreciation tour of Kwara South Senatorial District, saying his decision to seek election into the House of Representatives was inspired by a desire to contribute more meaningfully to the development of his constituency.
The former Chief Press Secretary to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said his years in government exposed him to the realities of governance and strengthened both his experience and commitment to public service.
According to him, serving in government for seven years has given him firsthand knowledge of policy formulation, public administration and the challenges facing communities, placing him in a better position to make meaningful contributions through legislation.
“I have served as a public officer for the last seven years, and throughout that period I have gained valuable experience and the motivation to do more for our people. I believe I still have much to offer, particularly in promoting good governance through effective legislative oversight and supporting initiatives that address critical issues such as security and development,” Ajakaye said.
He pledged to support policies and programmes that would enhance development, strengthen oversight of government institutions and advance the welfare of constituents if elected to represent Ifelodun/Oyun/Offa Federal Constituency.
Dr. Ajakaye also clarified that the recent visits to communities across Kwara South were appreciation visits and not campaign activities.
He explained that the APC delegation visited traditional rulers, party stakeholders and supporters to express gratitude for their support during the party’s primary elections.
According to him, the three-day tour was organised to appreciate party members and community leaders ahead of the commencement of official election campaigns, stressing that the visits should not be misconstrued as the beginning of political campaigns.
He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people with integrity, accountability and dedication, promising to work towards improving governance and addressing the developmental needs of the constituency through effective representation in the National Assembly.
