Over 500 Students jostle for Standard Bearers’ scholarship

No fewer than 500 secondary school students have sat for the 2019 Career Mentorship Program (CMP) scholarship examination of the Standard Bearers Islamic Organisation (SBIO).

The Senior Secondary School (SSS3) students were tested in Mathematics and English Language across 5 centres within Osun and Ondo States.

The examination centers included; Oduduwa College, Ile Ife; Muslim Unity Secondary Academy, Akure; Islamic Model College, Iwo; Laro Middle School, Osogbo; and Ede Muslim High School, Ede.

The Director of the CMP, Mr Fatai Hassan said the placement test by the faith-based organisation was smooth and hitch-free in all the 5 centres.

Hassan said while the WAEC and JAMB fees of the student with the highest scores would be paid, students who had 50% and above would also be given varying forms of award.

The Director explained that the program aimed to develop the minds of the students explaining that the effort was also to create a healthy rivalry among the students.

The Chief examiner of the CMP, Mr. Abdullahi Muslim said the reports from all the five centres showed that the examination was a great success.

He stated that the questions were set in line with the WAEC standard, saying, “they are obviously not beyond the capacity of the SS3 student which is a criteria to sit for the examination.

“I was indeed impressed by the conduct of the examination which showed that the students were ready for the test,” he said.

A candidate, Durojare Ibrahim, told our correspondent after his first paper that the examination was well organised, but said the questions were tough.

Ibrahim hoped to come out in flying colours in the examination.

A parent, Mr. Ayodele Adam, commended the organisers for conducting a hitch-free examination.

Adam who called on faith-based organisations to emulate the laudable efforts of the Standard Bearers expressed confidence that such program would enhance the academic performance of students.
