Multiple-award winning journalist, Adeola Yusuf, has again, won the Nigeria’s Energy Correspondent of The Year Award at the 29th Prestigious Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA).
Yusuf, a devout Muslim fought for and secured with the help of Allah, the page for news about Islam known as ‘The Islam Page’ in the New Telegraph newspaper.
The winner who is the Energy Editor for the Newspaper, won the Award at a ceremony held on Sunday at the MUSON centre, Lagos with a story entitled; “The Big Power Scandal”.
His winning entry on the power sector exposes how electricity consumers in Nigeria are being swindled of millions of Naira on monthly basis through estimated billing system.
Yusuf, a winner of several international and local awards, bursary and recognition in journalism, earlier won the same NMMA Prize for Energy Reporter of the Year in 2015.
In 2016, he was adjudged the winner of Thomson Reuters Foundation Scheme on Illicit Finance Reporting for Africa in Kampala, the Ugandan capital. He also won the Bursary Award for African Investigative Journalism Conference (AIJC) held in Johannesburg, South Africa, that same year.
Among other laurels he has won is the Pan Africa Tax Evasion Reporting Scheme/Conference of the Tax Justice Network Africa, Nairobi, Kenya, 2017.
He is the Winner of the most consistent Energy Reporter recognition by the highest body of oil and gas Explorationists in Nigeria – Nigeria Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE).
A Master of Science (MSc.) holder in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Yusuf has a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in the same course at the Crescent University having graduated earlier with a Higher National Diploma (HND) as the overall best student, School of Communications and General Studies, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta.
He is also an alumnus of the prestigious Pan Atlantic university.
He is a social media ‘influencer’ and a Public Affairs Analyst on Television Continental; Lagos Television; Radio Lagos; Cool FM and a host of others.
