Muslim community mourns the death of veteran Yoruba actor

The entire Muslim Community in Apete-Awotan-Ayegun and environs in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State was yesterday thrown into mourning following the death of their Public Relations Officer (PRO) and a veteran Yoruba actor, Alhaji Toyosi Arigbabuwo.

Muslim News findings revealed that the late actor died on Monday evening at his residence located at Ile-Alli area, along the Apete-Arola Road in Ibadan, after battling an undisclosed illness for more than 6 months.

His death is yet another confirmation that every soul – irrespective of his status including fame and wealth in this world, shall taste death (Qur’an 3: 185) and when their specified time arrives, they cannot delay it for a single hour nor can they bring it forward (Qur’an 16:61).

Alhaji Arigbabuwo

An online medium, PREMIUM TIMES which first break the News confirmed the actor’s passage from the Chairman, Muslim Community of Apete-Awotan-Ayegun, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Amoo.

“Apart from acting and appearances in many Yoruba flicks, Arigbabuwo dedicated part of his life to the promotion of the Islamic religion, especially in Ido Local Government Area where he lived until his death,” Alhaji Amoo said.

Speaking to PREMIUM TIMES, the Chairman Muslim Community said the late Arigbabuwo until his death was their Public Relations Officer.

“Yes he died yesterday (on Monday). He died as a devout Muslim. Despite his busy schedules, he dedicated part of his life to Islam. He was a humble person,” said Alhaji Amoo.

“The last information available to me is that he would he buried at 12.00 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Muslim cemetery located at Onigbaketun, along the Apete-Awotan-Akufo Road,” Mr Amoo said.

The Nigerian filmmaker featured in many Yoruba movies including the epic Ogbori Elemosho and Bashorun Gaa, among others.

‘O Allah, forgive and have mercy upon Alhaji Arigbabuwo and all our dead Muslims. Excuse them and pardon them, and make honourable their reception. Expand their entry, and cleanse them with water, snow, and ice, and purify them of sin as a white robe is purified of filth. Admit them into the Garden, protect them from the punishment of the grave and the torment of the Fire.’ Allahumo Ameen.
