Confirmed cases of coronavirus in Nigeria have risen to 135, as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported four new cases today, March 31st, 2020 around 11:15am.
In a tweet by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the three fresh cases were said to have been recorded in Osun state and one in Ogun State.
The news came barely 24 hours after the agency announced Twenty new cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria, with 13 in Lagos, 4 in FCT, 2 in Kaduna and 1 in Oyo.
Muslim News gathered that Nigeria, the most populous African country of about 200 million people, began lockdown in Abuja and Lagos today in a bid to curb the spread of the pandemic.
Ogun, which is also affected by the curfew as announced by President Buhari in a nationwide broadcast, has postponed the lockdown till Friday.
The State Governor, Mr Dapo Abiodun said there is need for the state to prepare for a Food bank in each Senatorial district and also allow citizens of the state to be more prepared for the lockdown.
Death, treated cases
Since the outbreak of the pandemic in Nigeria, two deaths have so far been recorded while 8 people have reportedly being treated following the latest recovery of six patients.
All the six persons are in Lagos State, the hardest hit by the disease. It will bring to eight, the total number of recoveries, Muslim News findings revealed.
Recall that the disease control outfit said that as at Wednesday March 25th, the total number of cases stood at 51 with two recoveries and one death.
Following the first recorded casualty of a Kogi indigene, another patient has reportedly lost the battle to the disease.
The Minister for Health, Mr. Osagie Ehanire stated that it was sad that another fatality was recorded over the weekend in the person of a patient who had severe underlying illnesses.
